Burnout and lethargy are both things that make you feel tired and drained, but they come from slightly different places.
I’m trying to explain the difference between burnout and lethargy.
Burnout
Imagine you’re at work or dealing with a ton of responsibilities for a long time without a break. Burnout is like that feeling when you’re just so worn out, physically and emotionally, because you’ve been pushing yourself too hard for too long. It’s like you’re running on empty, and even doing simple tasks becomes super tough. You might start feeling disconnected or even negative about things, like you don’t care anymore. Your body might also show signs like headaches or stomach problems. It’s like your “get up and go” has just vanished.
Lethargy
Now, think about those days when you wake up and feel like you could sleep for another 10 hours. Lethargy is like that – a big lack of energy. It’s when you’re not just sleepy, but you’re also finding it hard to get excited about stuff. You might not have the energy to do things you usually enjoy. And it’s not just about being physically tired; you might also feel mentally foggy or weak.
So, the main difference is that burnout often comes from being stressed out over a long period, especially from work or life demands. It makes you feel emotionally drained and disconnected. Lethargy, on the other hand, is more about a general lack of energy and motivation, and it can be linked to different reasons like health issues or not getting enough rest.
